Justice for Children International is a non-profit organization that works toward the abolition of child sex trafficking and exploitation through advocacy, prevention and aftercare. JFCI trains aftercare workers, multiplies safehomes, aids socioeconomic development programs in high-risk communities and provides a voice for these victims of modern-day slavery.
Justice for Children International was selected by MySpace as one of three finalists for their MySpace Impact Award for the Social Justice category. MySpace users will now select a winner from among the three finalists. The finalist who gets the most votes by midnight, September 21st will win a cash prize of $10,000, as well as a featured placement on MySpace for a month, reaching over 75 million active members. Promotion will be on both the home page of MySpace.com (one week) and in the MySpace Impact Award Community (for one month) within the site. All this to say...please take a moment to vote for us. (You can vote once per day). And if possible, ask your friends and networks to do the same. Not only would $10,000 be very helpful in our work to abolish child sex slavery and exploitation, but this a great opportunity to create a HUGE amount of awareness about the issue. (Which is half the battle).
Thanks for participating with us in this!!
Again... we have until September 21st to accumulate votes.
whew....here is the result of my "mania" over the past few days. i finished setting up my temporary art/craft studio in the spare room/office of my home. a girl can go nuts not having her cherished supplies nearby. gosh. i must have looked like a complete looney yesterday as i was talking to my items..."OH, there you are you silly jar of vintage dennison labels"; "Woo Hoo! hello my precious!" (said in the voice of Gollum) while caressing a box full of vintage seam binding. now i feel much better. see. it doesn't take much. : )
we have a mothra type situation going on over here today. each time we open the front door we have visitors. and i don't mean my friends. hmmm...if you don't hear from me tomorrow, i would be concerned.
a few weeks ago i was asked to be interviewed by a local newspaper...they have a column about artsy/crafty people and projects. you can visit the online interview here or check out the september 13, 2007 issue of Newsday for the print copy. i had no idea they were actually running it...they never told me a definite date...my son tells me today..."corey came into school and said you were in the newspaper" my son just stood there with a blank look on his face. then my mom tells me today at breakfast..."anne said you were in the newspaper...how come you didn't tell me?" i said..."where...the front page?" HEADLINE : MIXED MEDIA MOM GOES NUTS". lol. "mom, i would have told you if i knew!" anyway...nice surprise! blessings!
I've got the children to tend The clothes to mend The floor to mop The food to shop Then the chicken to fry The baby to dry I got company to feed The garden to weed I've got shirts to press The tots to dress The can to be cut I gotta clean up this hut Then see about the sick And the cotton to pick.
Shine on me, sunshine Rain on me, rain Fall softly, dewdrops And cool my brow again.
Storm, blow me from here With your fiercest wind Let me float across the sky 'Til I can rest again.
Fall gently, snowflakes Cover me with white Cold icy kisses and Let me rest tonight.
Sun, rain, curving sky Mountain, oceans, leaf and stone Star shine, moon glow You're all that I can call my own.
